PORTRAIT PROCEDURE

A Geneva portraitist, Gwenneth works either from life at her studio or at the client’s location or from a compilation of photographs taken over one or two two-hour sessions.

The artist likes to have some time to get to know the client before a session, at which time any questions about location, clothes and background will be resolved.

Quick sketches are made, and notes taken during the session for the painter’s use.

Back at the studio, a small study in oils determining the colours and composition of the future oil painting is completed and sent to the client for approval.

The final portrait is then undertaken, painted in oils of the finest quality on Belgian linen canvas.

If the portrait is to be shipped, photos of the painting will be sent or emailed to the client for approval prior to dispatch. For life sittings, the number of sittings will depend on the size and complexity of the portrait.

A portrait will not be delivered unless the client is completely satisfied.

Gwenneth Barth works in pastel and oils.
